What I learned today

Today I learned many things about people and where they come from. The one country that has a little bit of every one is the the United states. Throughout my research I discovered that there is at least one person from every country in the States. I also learned a lot about how people identify themselves racially. Some people base it off of their culture and some base it off their heritage, while some base it off their skin. I learned a lot of new things about race and immigration and hope to learn more.

Thoughts on Philanthropy

Throughout this assignment I learned a lot about philanthropy that I did not know. I learned how it differs from charity. To me philanthropy is more of a world wide thing. Philanthropists do more work across the world compared to charities, who focus their work on local problems. Also philanthropy is more of a long term thing. Philanthropists do their work over time, instead of just doing over a few days.

Thinking About Success

1. Hard Work
2. Opportunity
3. Luck
4. Skill

The reason I put hard work first was because without Hard work and effort you will get no where. The reason I put opportunity second is because no matter how much work you put in or how good you are at your skill you have to use opportunity to broadcast yourself in order to be successful. I put luck third because it is not the most important part of being successful but is does play a part. I put skill last because, although it's important, it is not as important as the the first three. If you cannot put yourself or product out there for others to see it won't get anywhere. If you don't put in the work that product will never exist.

Exploring Business / Clothing Industry

Zara's Factory
Today I learned a lot about the clothing and fashion Industry I did not know about. I learned about all the things that are required to get a company up and running and stay running. In the article's we read it talked about how every company had a distribution center that was usually separate from the factories themselves. Zara's for example talked about how no matter which factory a product came from it always went through there center in Spain and then went to the stores.  It also talks about how quickly the companies work to get new items out. The Zara article talked about they would ship new designs twice a week. I never knew how much work there was and how quickly the work got done in this industry.
